and OutThere were competing against. Xodos placed 6th and OutThere placed
8th. Congratulations to both teams!

and Xodos at the 2001 USPA Nationals. Both teams have been training very
hard all year long and will do very well. To follow their progress click
here. Good Luck!!
10-15-01, Thank you to everyone who
attended our October Fest!! It was a great success and loads of fun. We
had beautiful weather both days and flew the Otter non-stop. Heath, from
Monkey Claw, did a great job organizing free fly jumps and we appreciate
him turning with the plane to jump with as many people as possible! Thank
you Heath for doing a great job! Also, Kathy Kunkowski and Mike Davidson
did a great job organizing RW jumps! Congratulations to Michelle Carlstrom
on her 500th jump!
Food was great and the first keg was tapped by 10:00 Saturday night, so
we tapped into a second keg before 11:00! Great fun was had by all!!!
Our next boogie is the Veterans Day Boogie, November 10 and 11: $14 jumps,
$10 registration (No charge for current military or veterans with ID).
9-30-01, Congratulations to Xodos
for winning the NSL playoffs held at skydive cross keys. Xodos was unable
to complete all ten rounds because of weather, after 4 rounds of competition
Xodos finished first with a 12.25 average. Congratulations!!
9-26-01, Unfortunately, the AFFCC
for Delmarva is cancelled. We lost too many people for military service
and rescue efforts. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to do one in the spring.
Also the Delaware State Record attempts have been canceled due to lack
of interest. If you would be interested in record attempts at a later
date please e-mail manifest.
9-24-01, The first weekend back after
the recent tragedies in New York and Washington DC was a good one. After
the fog lifted both Saturday and Sunday mornings the Twin Otter flew all
day without shutdowns. There was a large fun jumper turnout and even a
large AFF class. Overall the weekend was great and we look forward to
next weekend.
9-20-01, The FAA has lifted the ban
on skydiving operations and Skydive Delmarva is OPEN once again!!
9-4-01, The weather finally cooperated
for us!! The Labor day boogie was awesome. The Twin Otter and King Air
flew all day Saturday and Sunday and the Otter flew a few loads to 15,000
on Monday. Fun jumpers participated in RW coaching and organizing available
Sunday and Monday. We even had night jumps which went as planned on Sunday.
8-27-01, Congratulations to Xodos!!
Xodos Competed in Meet 3 of The MidAtlantic Skydiving League over the
weekend at Chambersburg Skydiving Center in Chambersburg, PA. Winning
the raw score portion of the competition, Exodos did not win the overall
competition do to the handicap system. Xodos has won all of the MaSL meets
with Raw scores. Also, congratulations to OutThere for winning their third
straight Virginia Parachute Council meet. OutThere competed over the weekend
at Skydive The Point in
West Point, VA. Both OutThere and Xodos train regularly at Skydive Delmarva.
8-16-01, Congratulations to Amanda
Owens for completing her 100th skydive!! Amanda, as many of you may know
is our manifester. She has been slowly advancing through her skydiving
career and we are all very proud of her. Again congratulations Amanda.
Other recent 100th jump graduates include, Eric Mithen, Elisa Bell, and
Tim Kalendek. Congratulations to them as well!
8-6-01, At Skydive Delmarva we had
night jumps this past Saturday (August 4th, 2001). The night jumps were
flown in the Otter with six brave souls: Elisa Bell, Don Johnson, Mike
Schmitt, Andrew Schmitt, Tony Mergliano, and Lewis Gershen getting off
the ground at about 10:30. Brian made two passes putting three out in
the first pass and three in the second. Congratulations to Elisa Bell
and Don Johnson who made their first night jump. Everyone had wonderful
landings!
8-1-01, The Virginia Parachute Council
held it's 4th meet of the season at Skydive Delmarva. This was a
dual meet with the Mid Atlantic League. The meet was a great success,
seven RW teams and 1 Freefly team came out for a beautiful day of jumping.
This was one of the best events the VPC has had in years. A
total of 219 competition jumps were made on Saturday. Allowing the
entire event to be completed in one day. Many of the jumpers stayed
Sunday and made some fun jumps with other competitors. Brian and
Kathy Kunkowski, hosted the meet and donated beer for the jumpers at the
end of the day. Brian spent most of the day flying the Otter which
was reserved for competitors, while his King Air stayed busy handling
the student operation. The staff at Skydive DelMarVa did a great
job and were very helpful with the event. A special thanks goes
out to Amanda and Tara, for their efforts with running a smooth manifest.
Timmy Miller from Monkey Claw came out to check out the Freefly competition.
To bad we only had one team compete. But, Timmy made the best
of it working with jumpers and organizing. The highlight at the
end of the day was a tracking jump at sunset organized by Timmy and Dave
"Downplane" Milliron. Both Freefliers and RW fliers took
part in this fun skydive. Doug Park from the team FX also was on
hand assisting RW teams with their routines. He also helped Celeste
with judging the RW event and offered some great advice to all. Some
of the teams even took advantage of Doug's expertise the day before the
competition for coaching. Doug's advice with running our meet was
very beneficial and we wish him the best of luck at Nationals. The
meet was a great success and everyone had fun. The atmosphere was
laid back and the beer was cold. We at the VPC look forward to coming
back to Skydive DelMarVa. We would also like to thank all of our
sponsors for this years events. If it wasn't for their support the
VPC would not be where it is today. So, if your looking for new
gear, be sure to check out our web site for links to our sponsors.
Thanks everyone for a great meet and a great season so far. We look
forward to seeing everyone at Skydive West Point, August 25th and then
Skydive Virginia on September 9th (new raindate). Both meets will
have RW, Freeflying and cool prizes to raffle.
7-15-01, Another great weekend!! With
over 55 loads flown, both aircraft were flying all weekend. Congratulations

to seeing them in the air some more!! Next weekend is the Joint VPC and
MidAtlantic Skydiving League RW and FF competition. Come on out and compete.

7-9-01, The July 4th Boogie went very
well. On Saturday we flew over 25 loads with the same expected for Sunday.
On Sunday the weather was unfavorable so no loads went up. Saturday evening
was a bunch of fun, Robert Feister came down and played the guitar for
us while we all ate and socialized. We look forward to his next appearance.
On July 21st there will be a joint VPC and MidAtlantic Skydiving League
RW anf FreeFly competition. Anyone interested in forming a team or just
watching come on out and enjoy the fun.

4-way team on the 1st place win at the MidAtlantic Skydiving League. Xodos
won the meet with at 10.8 pt average. For more information click here.
The The June Fest Boogie went well considering that tropical storm Allison
plagued us with high winds and rain. The Sunpath
Gear and Demo Team was present and was showing off the new Javelin Odyssey.
On Saturday Tom Parker from the Rigging Room in Z-Hills gave a seminar
on reserve re-packs. We look forward to better weather for the July 4th
Boogie on July 7th & 8th. Please note that the 4-way camps on July
28 and August 18 have been canceled.
6-5-01, The Icarus Demo Weekend went
great. Simon from Icarus graced us with his knowledge of canopies and
gave a seminar on high performance flight. Later on Saturday when the
weather cleared up jumpers began demoing countless numbers of Icarus Canopies.
Sunday was a perfect day of jumping and the King Air and Twin Otter flew
all day. On Monday several loads flew when experienced jumpers stayed
Sunday night.
5-27-01, After waiting for the weather
to clear up on Saturday and expecting the same on Sunday, we were pleasantly
surprised that Sunday was beautiful all day. With full loads the Twin-Otter
flew all day. At sunset the local jumpers formed a 12-way filmed by Martin
Evans of Sky-Eye Sequential.
All Sunday Sunset loads within one hour of sunset are 15 dollars!!

5-2-01, The coaches course on April

for their ratings and soon we will have a few great coaches. The weather
was so nice that they even had time to make a coaches course big way.
The weather has been good lately and both the King Air and the Twin Otter
have flown all day each weekend. On April 28th the 4-way team OutThere
took first place at the first meet of the VPC
in Orange, VA.
4-17-01, The Easter Boogie was a blast.
Over 44 loads flew. With Monkey Claw Freefly Team here there were many
freefly and RW loads going up. Saturday night all jumpers were treated
to dinner and music. We stood outside and watched the videos from the
day. Sunday was another good day the weather lasted all day and we flew
until dark. Next weekend April 21st OutThere 4-way team is hosting 4-way
Scrambles and novice coaching, all skill levels invited. After the day
is over OutThere is hosting a little party. For more information e-mail
OutThere.
4-9-01, Even with poor weather on
Saturday we still got up a couple loads. On Sunday the skies cleared around
2:30 and we flew until sunset! Don't forget next weekend is the Easter
Boogie and that on April 21st OutThere is hosting a 4-way scrambles meet.
4-1-01, The Basic Instructional Course
over the weekend went well. There were several students in the BIC. They
even got a chance to take a break and make a few jumps. The ceiling was
low on Saturday however a few hop-and-pop loads did fly. On Sunday a few
more loads flew with almost full altitude. Overall a great weekend!! If
you would like to participate in the 4-way scrambles on April 21st, please
contact OutThere.
3-11-01, USPA Safety Day on Saturday
went very well. We had lectures involving everything from gear to the
aircraft. Also we had a USPA coaches course over the weekend which was
a huge success. Kevin Gibson and Chris Needles from USPA were at the DZ
and helped out with the Coaches course and Safety Day. In the mix of it
all we also put a few loads up! Please check the schedule for changes
in dates. The 4-way scrambles have moved from April 28th to April 21st.
There is also a VPC and PSL joint 4-way and freefly competition on July

of jumping. We had many fun jumpers to make the King Air fly turn-around
loads all day long.

students in an AFF class. Sunday was a beautiful day for skydiving, and
the King Air flew all day.
2-12-01, It was a little windy on
Saturday but we got a couple good loads up at the end of the day. It was
cold but we had a good turnout on Sunday with a bunch of fun jumpers and
even some students. We put up a few loads and everyone had fun.
